Logistics Skills & Development Specialist

Brian has over 20 years experience of identifying, designing and delivering training in highly regulated environments. Previously the UK Head of Training for two of the worlds largest pharmaceutical companies Brian’s expertise lies in behavioural change programmes, performance management, workforce development in the logistics and life science sectors.

During his career Brian has delivered work across a broad spectrum. Most recently he has completed a contract with AECOM, one of the largest global consultancy companies, which saw him work with the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi to develop a competence framework for driver training in the country.He was an advisor to the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) on logistics 'trailblazer‘ apprenticeships, and continues to work with Transport for London (FORS) through the ongoing development of a competency framework for transport managers, with further development mapping into a skills matrix for dissemination to accredited member companies.

Brian has also worked with Irish Government body Forfás, researching skills issues in the logistics sector which resulted in key recommendations for improvement to meet 2020 objectives, and in 2012 he project managed a global training project with UNICEF to help mitigate risk in their medical supply chain. Subsequent training was initially delivered in Copenhagen before it was introduced across Africa.

Brian's Highlights Include

  • Previous representation as a board member on the IRU Academy and EuroTra, two European bodies investigating and identifying improvements on various skills related topics across EU member and non-member states
  • Working as a Contract Programme Manager with Skills for Logistics, recruiting and building a team managing several skills related projects, from creating company based professional development stairways using UK National Occupational Standards, to employer engagement on a variety of key UK skills topics.
  • Project managing the implementation of UK logistics apprenticeship programmes into China via the British Council and various Chinese trade bodies.
  • Project managing the development of two new Apps for the logistics sector: and which, in conjunction with a UK waste transport operator, won a Motor Transport award in 2014.
  • Regularly deliver training in Lean Six Sigma logistics in Dubai, Qatar and Malaysia.
  • Worked with the 2012 Olympics transport committee, LOCOG and Transport for London, in developing and delivering logistics workshops in and around London.
